PROJECT № 45

City: Zaporizhzhia

Project manager:  Oleksandr Lukyanenko

Technology Readiness Level: TRL 5

A new magnesium bioresorbable alloy is a promising development in the field of implantology. The new alloy can greatly facilitate the recovery of patients after surgery for the implantation of various implants.

Today, bioresorbable materials are not widely used, so the development and implementation of such alloys is an urgent task. The main advantage of these materials is a faster recovery of the patient after implantation of various implants, due to the absence of the need for repeated surgery to remove them from the body. In addition, the advantage of magnesium biosoluble alloys over their analogues is that magnesium has a positive effect on the human body in general. Namely, it stimulates bone growth, which in turn accelerates the consolidation of fractures.

An additional positive argument in favour of the new development is that the new alloy contains silver, which not only improves mechanical properties but also provides a partial antiseptic effect to the surgical area. In the realities of a full-scale war, the feasibility of a development that facilitates medical operations in implantology and speeds up the recovery of patients' health is not in question.
