The Versi Bionics team is a Ukrainian project that develops a bionic prosthetic arm for people who have lost a limb.
The main problems in the prosthesis market are price (from $20k), service center, and functionality.
The Versi Bionics team is trying to solve these issues.
The main difference from competitors is the unique automatic biaxial rotation of the wrist, which allows a person to comfortably pick up a cup of coffee by scrolling the wrist and not pulling the elbow up, as a healthy person has 3 degrees of freedom
The prosthesis has a thermal response function and pressure sensors. For example, when a person touches an object, it vibrates, and when the object is cold or hot, the element inside heats or cools and the person feels it.
The prosthesis also has modular fingers, which will help reduce the burden on service centers, because the finger can be ordered online, picked up at a new post office and replaced at home.
Our product has about 75% of its own components, its own software and a neural network for data processing. Each finger has its own electric motor controlled by a microcontroller.
There are two gyroscopes and accelerometers to control the two-axis automatic rotation of the wrist.
In the release version, the prosthesis will be made of carbon fiber and aluminum. The design is aimed at resembling a natural hand as much as possible.
